Preparing for Installation

To help insure a quality installation, About Floors, Inc. offers the following helpful tips. Please contact our office at (360) 874-0774 with any further questions you may have. Thank you for choosing About Floors, Inc.!

INSTALLER IS MOVING FURNITURE AND/OR APPLIANCES:

  1. Remove all small items such as lamps, plants, pillows, crystal, fragile items, antiques, books, knick-knacks, etc., before the installer arrives.
  2. Remove all items from the floor and racks in closets, to allow at least 3 feet of headroom off the floor.
  3. Disconnect TV, computers and electronic equipment.
  4. See below to notate items that our installers are not allowed to move.

CUSTOMER IS MOVING FURNITURE AND APPLIANCES:

  1. Remove ALL furniture, appliances and disconnect any water lines to ice makers or fridge from the room(s) your flooring will be installed in before the installer arrives.
    * NOTE: Additional charges will apply should installer move furniture and/or appliances.

CUSTOMER IS REMOVING EXISTING FLOORING:

  1. Remove existing flooring before the installer arrives.
  2. Be sure to remove old carpet pad and scrape all staples and possible adhesives off the floor.
  3. Leave all existing tack strip for re-use.
  4. Thoroughly sweep or vacuum the area.
    * NOTE: Should client not be ready for installation on scheduled date and time, additional charges (per man) will apply.

ITEMS OUR INSTALLERS CANNOT MOVE: Our installers also cannot move items requiring dismantling, special tools, or training. (i.e. water lines to appliances, etc.). If you have these items, please make special arrangements to have them moved before the installer arrives.

SEAM PLACEMENT: and the floor plans have been reviewed with the customer. The customer approves of the carpet seem placement plan.
SCUFFING OF BASEBOARDS, WALL PAINT AND WALL PAPER MAY OCCUR during normal installation. Installer will use caution but will not be responsible for damage. Customer is to be responsible for repairs and touch up of paint.
ESTIMATE PRICE EXCLUDES FLOOR PREPARATION or other work necessary to correct unforeseen floor surface defects that were not apparent during the initial measure. Customer will be advised of all extra charges at the time of installation.
UNDER CARPET WIRING AND RADIANT HEAT: The customer is responsible for notifying the installer of location of all under carpet wiring and radiant heat in the floor. Under – carpet wiring is not advisable. Installer will use caution. Customer accepts full responsibility.
HEAT, POWER, LIGHT & VENTILATION: Customer is responsible for providing the installation location with adequate heat, power, light and ventilation 24 hours prior to installation.
DOOR TRIMMING: Customer is responsible for trimming the bottom of any exterior or interior doors, due to any increase in the finished flooring height. This includes adjustments to any sliding or bi-fold closet doors.
MOLDING HEIGHT: Customer is responsible for adjusting molding, and/or baseboard height due to any increase or decrease in the finished flooring height.
